FAQs — Beachside Aesthetics & Wellness

Question 1

Do I need a consultation before treatment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A consultation is required before any treatment. This gives Emilie the opportunity to take a thorough health history, assess your skin or health concerns, and discuss whether a treatment is appropriate for you. It also gives you the chance to ask questions and understand what's involved before making any decisions.

Question 2

What happens during a consultation?

Accepted Answer

Emilie will ask about your health history, current medications, skin concerns and goals. She'll assess your skin or health as relevant and explain what she finds. She'll then discuss any treatment options that may be appropriate, including what they involve, what to expect and any risks or contraindications. There is no obligation to proceed with treatment.

Question 3

How long does a consultation take?

Accepted Answer

A skin consultation typically takes 30–45 minutes. A Nurse Practitioner wellness consultation is usually 45–60 minutes. If you're combining an InBody assessment with a wellness consultation, allow around 60–75 minutes.

Question 4

Can I have treatment on the same day as my consultation?

Accepted Answer

In some cases, yes — if the treatment is appropriate and there are no contraindications identified during the consultation. Emilie will let you know whether same-day treatment is possible for your situation.

Question 5

I'm not sure what I need. Can I still book?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. A general consultation is a good starting point if you're unsure. Emilie will help you understand your options from there. You can also send an enquiry before booking if you'd prefer to ask a question first.

Question 6

What treatments are available at Beachside Aesthetics & Wellness?

Accepted Answer

Emilie offers skin consultations and skincare advice, microneedling, chemical peels, carbon laser facials, LED light therapy, IPL photorejuvenation, IPL hair removal, assessment for visible facial vessels, and laser tattoo removal. Wellness services include InBody body composition assessments and Nurse Practitioner wellness consultations. Visit the Skin & Treatments and Wellness pages for more detail on each.

Question 7

Are the treatments painful?

Accepted Answer

Comfort levels vary depending on the treatment and the individual. Topical anaesthetic is used for treatments such as microneedling to minimise discomfort. Emilie will explain what to expect for each treatment during your consultation.

Question 8

How many sessions will I need?

Accepted Answer

This depends on the treatment and your individual situation. Some treatments may show results after a single session; others — such as IPL hair removal, microneedling or laser tattoo removal — typically require multiple sessions. Emilie will discuss the likely number of sessions and spacing at your consultation.

Question 9

Is there downtime after treatment?

Accepted Answer

Downtime varies by treatment. Some treatments have minimal downtime; others may involve redness, peeling or sensitivity for a few days. Emilie will explain what to expect for your specific treatment, including any aftercare instructions, before you proceed.

Question 10

Are all treatments suitable for everyone?

Accepted Answer

No. Suitability depends on your skin type, health history, current medications and other individual factors. This is why a consultation is required before any treatment — to assess whether it is appropriate for you. Some treatments are not suitable during pregnancy, with certain skin conditions, or while taking particular medications.

Question 11

How do I book an appointment?

Accepted Answer

You can book online through our booking system at a time that suits you. If you'd prefer to ask a question before booking, you're welcome to send an enquiry through the contact page or call the clinic.

Question 12

Are consultations bulk-billed or covered by Medicare?

Accepted Answer

Nurse Practitioner consultations may attract a Medicare rebate depending on the nature of the consultation and your individual circumstances. Please contact the clinic to discuss this before your appointment. Cosmetic skin treatments are not covered by Medicare.

Question 13

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so as early as possible so the appointment can be offered to someone else. You can manage your booking through the online booking system or by calling the clinic. Late cancellations and no-shows may incur a fee.

Question 14

Do you offer payment plans?

Accepted Answer

Please contact the clinic to discuss payment options. We'll do our best to accommodate where we can.

Question 15

Who performs the treatments?

Accepted Answer

All treatments are performed by or under the supervision of Emilie Masi, a qualified Nurse Practitioner with over 24 years of nursing experience and a Master of Advanced Nursing Practice. You will see Emilie at every appointment.
